Caffè Così means “coffee, like this.”

For us, coffee has never just been a drink. It is a pause in the day, a conversation between friends, and a ritual that brings people together.

Caffè Così was created to capture that feeling.

Where the Story Began

The inspiration for Caffè Così comes from childhood memories growing up on the North Side of Syracuse in the 1970s, in a neighborhood shaped by Italian families from Naples and Argentina.

It was the kind of place where everyone knew each other.
Front doors were rarely locked.
Gardens were carefully tended.
And the streets carried the comforting aromas of fresh bread from the bakery and espresso from the local cafés.

In the afternoons, neighbors gathered to talk, laugh, and play cards over small cups of strong coffee.

As kids, my best friend Ralphy and I spent countless hours in those cafés. We would pester the owner for quarters to play Pac-Man or shoot pool while the adults sat nearby, debating, storytelling, and playing Italian card games.

On school mornings we would stop at his grandmother’s house before class. She would pour us strong coffee and set out something sweet. It was simple, but it was special. It felt like home.

A Love That Grew With Time

Years later, traveling through the countryside of Tuscany and the seaside towns of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast brought those memories rushing back.

There, coffee is never rushed.

It is taken standing at a bar, sitting in the sun, or shared slowly with friends at a small table in the piazza.

Coffee is woven into everyday life — a moment to pause, connect, and enjoy the present.

That spirit became the heart of Caffè Così.
